The "Cutting Room"?

Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is known as the process of the removal of the clitoris, inner-and-outer lips of the vagina, and the sewing or stapling together of the two sides of the vulva leaving only a small hole to pass urine and menstruate. This procedure is performed with razor blades and a bottle of alcohol. This process is usually performed on girls between the ages of 4 and 12.

It has been illegal to perform this procedure in Kenya since 2011 as well as early marriage.

"The "cutting room" forms part of the pair's ramshackle home in a predominantly Kenyan-Somali neighborhood. Girls are kept immobile here for weeks after their ordeal."You tie the legs ... this way, a traditional way, then you lay her down and cover her up with a blanket and give her some hot tea -- she should not be exposed to cold or feel cold."

Tanzania election: Zanzibar vote annulled after fight

There were irregularities in the polls that caused Zanzibar to annul the votes all together. "Opposition parties have also alleged rigging in Sunday's presidential, general and local elections, seen as the hardest fought polls in the East African nation, where the ruling party is facing its first major challenge in decades of dominance". They say that the process was unfair and that it breeched the law which is why Zanzibar Electoral Commission (ZEC) chairman Jecha Salim Jecha said to "declare all of the results null and void".

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe reads wrong speech

Even world leaders have little mix ups. Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe is reaching the age of 92 soon, and apparently, people are pushing him into the decision to resign from his post.  He was supposed to be delivering a speech to officially open Parliament, but he read his State of Nation Address instead.  It wouldn't have been that bad...had he not already delivered that speech back in August.  People are posting things like "It doesn't help being defensive, this is a sign that he is too old and must resign!"  This was written by an anonymous person called Mr. X.

New Atrocities in Darfur by Sudanese Force

Report Details New Atrocities in Darfur by Sudanese ForceIn Darfur there are killings and mass rapes occurring.  In 2000,  Darfur had become known for "systematic killings, rape, forced relocations and other crimes committed against mainly non-Arab tribes by government forces and their nomadic militia allies, known as the janjaweed" (Sudanese Force).  And since 2003, 300,000 people have been killed.  This is considered to be a modern-day genocide.
"Daniel Bekele, Human Rights Watch’s executive director for Africa, said the report documented how the Rapid Support Forces, in two campaigns since February 2014, had “killed, raped and tortured civilians in scores of villages in an organized, deliberate and systematic way.”
